In 2022. French chef, Stephane Louvard started selling croissants stuffed with cookie dough. Once you try them you’ll find how great replacement they are for pain au chocolat or almond croissants.

As the story rolled, people started to stuff their versions with cherry creams, lemon curd, vanilla custards and peanut butter, to mention just some of the versions we have tried.

What is the best way to reheat crookies so they taste freshly baked?

Preheat oven to 150C/300°F. Place the crookies on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper. Once the oven is heated, place the tray on the middle rack and allow the crookies to warm up for 4 to 6 minutes, or until cookie dough gets gooey. Remove your crookies from the oven and enjoy them right away.

Ingredients

  • 4 store bought medium sized croissants
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 ½ Tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 9 Tbsp all purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp corn starch
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 Tbsp chocolate chunks
  • 4 Tbsp hazelnuts, chopped
  • Powdered sugar,optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 C / 356 F.

  2. Cover your baking tray with parchment paper and leave it aside.

  3. Combine all the cookie ingredients on a flat clean surface and form a little roll.

  4. Slice 4 croissants in half, lengthwise, and stuff them with cookie dough. Just make sure to leave some of the dough for the top of your croissant.

  5. Place your chocolate chip cookie dough stuffed croissants on prepared baking tray and bake for 11 minutes.

  6. If you like, you may dust crookies with powdered sugar before serving.

  7. Enjoy while still warm.

Recipe Notes

To stuff the croissants and place some of your favourite cookies dough on the top, just simply make a patch using your hands.
