Poached Pears with Turmeric is light and healthy dessert recipe. Served on spread Mascarpone, drizzled with sauce or honey, it is perfect finish for your dinner to impress your family and guests!
This simple and tasty dessert is an easy one to prepare. You need camomile tea bag, some turmeric and one tea bag of spices mix. If you don’t have a specific triple mix I used, feel free to add cinnamon, and ginger powder and one clove instead. Turmeric is highly recommended since it gives natural yellow colour to the fruits during poaching.

Poaching is a culinary technique that involves cooking something in liquid with a temperature ranging from 140 F to 180 F.

Carefully peel pears, leaving stems intact. Heat poaching liquid. Transfer pears to poaching liquid ensuring to cover the entire pear. Poach pears in a gentle rolling boil for approximately 15 – 20 minutes.

Ingredients
- 3 cups water
- 1 camomile tea bag
- 1 ginger-cinnamon-clove mix tea bag
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp white sugar
- 4 peeled Conferans pears, ripe but firm ( each 4 inches tall )
- Mascarpone to serve pears
- Lime zest to garnish
- 1 ½ Tbsp cornstarch for the sauce
- Honey to spread over the pears, optional
Instructions

In medium sized pot (9 - 10 inches diameter ), pour water, add teabags, turmeric and sugar. Bring to boil.

In the meantime, peel your pears leaving the stem intact, if possible, and add peeled pears the to tea liquid. Cover with parchment paper.

Poach on low heat for 15 minutes.

Carefully take the pears out, leave them in the fridge to cool.

Save 1 cup of poaching liquid.

Whisk cornstarch with tea and bring to boil. Stir constantly on low heat for 3 minutes. You’ll get thick sauce. Leave to cool.

Before serving your pears, spread Mascarpone cheese on plate,place the pear on it, drizzle with syrup and honey and garnish with lime zest.
Recipe Notes
The best is to make this dessert few hours ahead so they are properly chilled.
Instead of parchment paper, you may use one size smaller lid then your pot is so it weighs them down.
