Have you ever made jam on your own? The flavours releasing during the process are wonderful. Once you get ripe peaches, this simple pectin jam recipe is great to start with.

If using vegan substitute for pectin, you can easily turn this canning recipe into vegan version.

We don’t find purple peaches at our street market that often, so I decided to buy some and make the best use of them; eating them fresh is great but making jam is perfect to have an easy spread for morning toast.

I left some peaches aside to make photographs, so you see how nice and intense color it is:

It would be great to keep one jar to assemble the cookies for winter holidays.

Do purple peaches have the same taste as yellow?

Both are bright and acidic, with firm flesh and a characteristically tangy flavor. Purple peaches have more firm flesh then yellow ones.

I grew up having jams spread on toast and glass of milk for breakfast. The other option was slice of bread and homemade salty butter with glass of hot cocoa. Heaven!
What were you having for breakfast when growing up? I am curious what people were eating before all those cereals appeared.

Don’t get me wrong: I am completely fine with them; in the abundance we have today, people have so many options to choose but I would very much like to know what was the usual breakfast in other parts of the world…
As for my family, I still remember the flavours releasing from my grandmother’s kitchen : the first thing I remember is coffee with few drops of hot milk and grappa aside. For my grandfather.

Few minutes later, polenta was ready and dropped into small bowl, using teaspoon. A second later it was covered with homemade white coffee. It was chicory version of coffee for my grandfather, without any caffeine.

So, here we go with detailed recipe 😊
