Finally, I turned the oven on after tremendous heats. Since our weatherman says we will have another heat wave within few days, I hurried to make some homemade sweets to have instead of store-bought ones. There is no substitute for a batch of chocolate chip cookies recipe made from scratch!
Our cookie jar was empty for several weeks now and I believe my son will be happy to see it full again. Besides, this batch mixes up quickly.

These chip cookies are not leche stuffed. This dulche de leche cookies recipe has it incorporated in the dough. To support intense dulce color, I added brown sugar and rolled the cookies before baking to get them as crispy on the outside as possible. Yet, they are chewy inside and that is exactly how cookie recipe should taste like. Right ?
Semisweet chocolate chips make great balance with sweet dulce de leche. I really recommend you use them instead of milk chocolate chip version.
How to make this type of cookie dough?
Be sure to have all ingredients at room temperature. Start with dry ingredients on your clean flat working surface. No baking powder. Combine butter, egg, and dulce. Add mini or normal sized chocolate chips at the end of the process. Roll, bake, and enjoy with glass of milk.
What is the difference between caramel and dulce de leche?
Caramel sauce is made with sugar and cream. Dulce de leche is made with sweetened condensed milk. Either of these sauces can be used in any number of ways in desserts. Both are basically made from sugar that has been simmered and browned.

Do cookies freeze well?
Baked cookies will keep in the freezer for up to 3 or 4 weeks. After baking, allow cookies to cool completely. Place them is single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet to freeze them, then store them in a freezer-safe zip-top storage bag labeled with the name and date. For more, go to Allrecipes .

Ingredients
- ¾ stick + 1 Tbsp butter, unsalted
- 4 Tbsp Dulce de Leche, room temperature
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup flour
- 3 Tbsp semisweet chocolate chips
- 4 Tbsp brown sugar to roll the dough balls
Instructions

Mix butter, dulce de leche, 3 Tbsp brown sugar, egg, salt, and flour on a flat surface to get a ball of dough.

When finished, add chocolate chips and combine.

Let the dough rest in the fridge for 10 – 15 minutes.

Put 4 Tbsp brown sugar into a flat plate.

Preheat the oven to 180 C / 356 F.

Cover baking sheet with parchment paper.

Take one tablespoon of the dough, make the ball, roll it in brown sugar and put it on the baking paper.

Flat the ball using your fingers to get two inches cookie in diameter.

Make sure to have two inches space between each cookie.

Bake for 12 minutes.
