Refined sugar free, Gluten – Free Carob Brownies Recipe are healthy and comforting version and it makes them perfect to start colder season with, especially if you are carob admirer.
I won’t bother you with the wonders of carob since I have already done that when Carob Apple Muffins were published.
But, here I share a photo of a carob tree, hundred years old, growing in private botanical garden, owned by true enthusiast that so generously shared his time with us and walked us around:

Pure, non-contaminated oats are gluten free for most people with gluten – intolerance but please check the ingredients yourself to be completely safe about it.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • ½ cup raisins soaked in 1 Tbsp dark rum and 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 clove, pinch of anise powder, pinch of cardamom powder
  • 1 cup oat flakes
  • 2 Tbsp psyllium
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp carob powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 apple, peeled, grated
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / 356 F.

  2. Cover 8 x 8 inches dish with baking paper and spray it. Leave aside.

  3. In medium sized pot, melt chocolate chips with vegetable oil. Leave aside.

  4. Combine raisins soaked in rum, vanilla extract and banana in blender to get smoooth paste. Leave aside.

  5. Grind oat flakes, psyllium, clove, anise, cardamom, baking powder, salt and carob.

  6. Add eggs to melted chocolate and mix wel, using spatula.

  7. Add raisins paste and grated apple.

  8. Now add dry ingredients and pour the mixture into the pan and bake for 21 minutes.

  9. Serve when cooled completely.
