Homemade Peach Jam Recipe : keeper for sandwich cookies to be made for holidays !

We don’t find purple peaches at our street market that often so I decided to buy some and make the best use of them; eating them fresh is the great but posting Homemade Peach Jam Recipe is also wise thing to do.

I got lucky a week later to get some more of peaches so I decided to add the photo that captures their beauty. I truly hope you will manage to find these beauties at your place :

One jar is marvelous to have to assembly the cookies for holidays. Also, the jam colour is beautiful.

Of course, the same recipe could be used for orange coloured peaches jam but I decided to make a little twist, as usual.

Once done, the jam waits in the pantry for winter days to come, together with other preserved food.

I grew up having jams spread on toast and glass of milk for breakfast. The other option was slice of bread and homemade salty butter with hot cocoa. Heaven !
What were you having for breakfast when growing up? I am really curious what were people eating before all those cereals appeared.

Don’t get me wrong: I am completely fine with them; in the abundance we live today, people are really free to choose whatever they prefer but I would very much like to know what was usual thing to do in other parts of the world…
I can still smell the flavours releasing from my grandmother’s kitchen : the first thing I remember is coffee with few drops of hot milk and grappa aside. For my grandfather. Few minutes later, polenta was boiled and dropped using teaspoon into the small bowl, covered with home made white coffee. Perhaps I could make a post about how to make it. Not grappa but polenta with white coffee πŸ™‚

Homemade Peach Jam Recipe : keeper for sandwich cookies to be made for holidays !

Ingredients

  • 4 cups washed purple peaches, cored, chopped
  • 1 cup + 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon acid
  • 2 Tbsp sugar + 2 Tbsp pectin

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 Tbsp sugar and 2 Tbsp pectin in a mug and leave aside.

  2. In medium sized pot, on medium heat, boil purple peaches, sugar and lemon acid for ten minutes.

  3. Add pectin and sugar mixture and boil, stirring constantly for four minutes.

  4. Take away from the heat and store in clean and dry glass jars.
